If I delete my primary email address on Facebook, can I login with my new email address again?
If you delete your primary email address on Facebook, you can still log in with your new email address as long as it is added and confirmed as an alternate email or a new primary email before the previous one is deleted. This is how it works.
Add and confirm a new email address:
- Log into Facebook and navigate to “Settings & Privacy” > “Settings.”
- Click “Contact” on the left column, followed by “Add Another Email or Mobile Number.”
- Enter your new email address and click “Add.”
- Facebook will send you a confirmation email at your new email address. To verify the email, open it and then click the confirmation link.
Set new email address as primary (optional):
To make the new email your primary login, navigate to “Settings” > “Contact,” click “Edit” next to the new email, and then pick “Make Primary.”
Delete the Old Primary Email:
After entering and confirming your new email address, you can remove the old primary email address.
Navigate to “Settings” > “Contact,” select “Edit” next to the previous email address, and then “Remove.”
Logging in After Deleting Old Emails:
- Once your old primary email has been deleted you should be able to log in with your new email address and Facebook password.
- If you delete your primary email address without first creating and confirming a new one, you may have problems login back into your account.
- As a result, before removing any existing email addresses from your Facebook account, you have to ensure that you have a verified one.
